Our Lake

The surface is no place for me
I had to become beautiful deep down
And now in deathly cold
Calm settles over me; a blanket of snow
Through endless sunsets we watched
That world turn to ice
As something too powerful
Destroyed more than ever was there

The rays glisten from a crystal form
And you see no colour anymore
For mine is a pale, drowned glow only
Yet how entrancing it is
Those secrets will remain an ethereal ghost
'Til drained and unearthed
By the end of time; you'll join me
When light we all become

For now see my frail reflection
Still, lest broken by your falling tear
Sometimes I walk on darkness
Drifting upon memory's shore
My face a void you think you've seen
As silent as Our Lake should be

But blink, my love,
and I am gone

Hmmm.. this was a bit rushed, but it didn't turn out too bad. Digitally painted using Photoshop. Also needs retouching and recropping, I'm not happy with the composition yet.

First one for the new year... May there be unprecedented painting in 2009! Cheers
