A walk and a winter picnic in a churchyard. Originally she had really big wings, but I thought the smaller ones looked more delicate and allowed me to put some kind of rough background in there too.
I love the idea of winter picnics; walking through the snow in the shadow of a great cathedral, enrobed in a beautiful velvet cloak or victorian mourning dress. Delicious hot tea and cakes in the snow sounds fun too. I have however tried a winter picnic and it wasn't half as romantic as it may seem here. It was freezing! Oh well...
As usual I might mess with this some more but I'm relatively happy with the way it turned out. And it was fun to paint, which is important.
This will also be featured in the (soon to be available) Gothic Fall art book!
Enjoy Suz x
**EDIT** I didn't realise that there was a Voltaire song with the same title - what a happy coincidence
Lovely. She's so beautiful and the little wings really do suit the picture better.

Wow, I LOVE this. I was looking at it for a while and I could almost hear the cool air blowing and feel the snow. ^^ And I didn't notice it at first, but I love the cat in the basket too. :favlove:
